Highlights of the Game
Fans of Newcastle United and Southampton were treated to a high-quality match yesterday as the two sides battled it out in the Premier League. While it ended in a 1-1 draw, there was enough action to make for a great replay and highlights package.
In the first half, Newcastle had the best chances as Florian Thauvin and Ayoze Perez both had shots saved by Southampton goalkeeper Fraser Forster. However, it was the home side who came closest to taking the lead in the 26th minute when Moussa Sissoko hit the post from close range.
Newcastle gradually started to take control of the game in the second half and created a number of chances, but it was Southampton who finally got on the scoresheet in the 82nd minute. Theo Walcott’s shot from distance found space between Newcastle’s defense and goalkeeper Rob Elliot, who could only palm it into the path of Shane Long who scored from close range.
